The Old Laughing Buddha:
In our Garden, we have an old, wooden, Buddha Statue.
Joey Rivera gave him to me, when he returned from his time in Vietnam and the surrounds.
The Hotei started out smooth polished, and was a house-buddha. But, somewhere along the line, he left the house one day and sat in the various gardens, of the houses we have inhabited.
Over the years, he has weathered, lost his sheen, and went from a deep brassy brown to a greying, ancient rough hewn look.
He has maintained his composure throughout. He continues to smile, his understanding of his true nature, apparent in his features.
May you be finding some measure of ease and contentment. May your smile reflect a deeper understanding of your true nature.
