Confidentiality & Privacy Policy

“I believe that a different therapy must be constructed for each patient because each has a unique story.”

  CONFIDENTIALITY IS IMPORTANT

A secure, confidential relationship between the client and the psychotherapist is essential to the therapeutic process; information cannot be disclosed without written permission. To create a safe space to reveal yourself, I honor this relationship, both legally and ethically.

However, there are legal and ethical exceptions to the sovereignty of this relationship:

*In case of suspected child abuse or dependent adult or elder abuse, the therapist is required by law to report this to the appropriate authorities immediately.

*If a client is threatening and has intentions of serious bodily harm to an individual or groups, the therapist is required to notify the police and inform the intended victim.

*If a client intends to harm himself or herself, the therapist will make every effort to enlist their cooperation in ensuring their safety. If they are not willing to cooperate, the therapist will utilize the proper channels—without the client’s permission—in order to ensure safety.
